Raising your child with autism takes the love and support from your friends, family, support groups, and local autism centers. Autism therapy centers provide the proper resources to educate everyone involved on how to be the best support to your child.

We know it's challenging to choose the right autism therapy center for your child, but it doesn't have to be! Knowing the best practices and ways an autism center can provide education and therapy is the best way to help you and your family find an  autism pediatric therapy center fit for your child.

What Should I Look For in Autism Centers?

Autism therapy centers work with your child and prepare resources for the caretakers, parents, and anyone else who interacts with your child. Choosing the right clinic and program will help your child succeed and reach social and behavioral goals. We recommend looking at centers with Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) and Board Certified Analytics with Board Certified Clinicians (BCBAs).

Knowing that your child attends a therapy center with RBTs and BCBAs, will indicate that the staff practices within the highest standards, and your child will be well taken care of.

Honesty and Transparency Should Be a Priority

Parents with a child on the autism spectrum often develop their daily routines around their kids. Being open and transparent about your everyday life is essential when finding the right autism therapy center for your child. You should find a therapy center that recognizes your family's needs and can be flexible with you.

Being honest will help your therapist give your child the best treatment possible. Tell the therapist about your morning routine or what you may have to do for your child before school.

You and the Therapy Center Should Agree

The therapy center's goals for your child should match your goals. The therapist should openly share their approach to autism therapy and the activities they may try with your child.

If the therapists at the center don't ask you what you want to achieve, short-term and long-term, how will they know where your child may need improvement? It would help if you asked the therapist their philosophy on ABA therapy or what their center primarily focuses on during their sessions.

Identify if It's Too Good To Be True

Therapists should never offer something that sounds too good to be true. Stay away from autism centers that make false promises or say that their therapy sessions "cure" autism. You want your child to attend a center that has integrity, communicates openly, and is honest about the possible success of the therapy.

At HANDS Center for Autism, we want to provide the very best resources for you and your child. With collective expertise, skills, and knowledge, we strive to offer therapeutic programs for children on the autism spectrum.
